Richard was so scared when this happened and I never saw him again, but people still talk about him now and then.
lyrics
Richard Stepped Out
Richard stepped out and he never came back
He went for a stroll on an old sidewalk
Full of cracks and holes that were very very deep
It was a foggy twilight afternoon
The air was rather thick and the ground much too wet
Wind began to move all the leaves upon the street
Richard stopped and stared as he listened to the wind
It seemed almost alive as though trying to speak to him
Deep within his stomach Richard felt an ugly knot
The fear of nothing certain made him gasp and try to cough
The sidewalk beneath his feet was starting to move
The cracks growing ever wider, the air now very still
Richard stood there scared and staring
At the ground so wet and soft
His mind was full of wonder at this fear that gripped his heart
Wider ever wider grew the cracks beneath his feet
He tried to scream for help but his voice it would not come
Boiling steam now started to rise from deep within the cracks
Richard's body struggled to move, but his mind it would not let him
The wonder and the horror of this fear so deep inside
Had trapped the very spirit which would keep his soul alive
As his clothes burst into flames and his skin began to melt
Richard wished that he had never, ever stepped out.
